Most States and Territories have implemented labelling requirements through the relevant department for environmental protection.  These are refund schemes for certain beverage containers, based on size and beverage type.  Within the legislation the States and Territories have specified that some products are not beverages, while others are.  They have also specified how the systems will work in each jurisdiction and the type of labelling that must be included on the label of the relevant products.

Not every State or Territory recognises the process of the other States and Territories.  There are even some minor differences with the types of beverages that are required to be labelled.

This course covers the current States and Territories that have container deposit schemes.  At the moment, Victoria and Tasmania do not have a scheme in place.
