Get the food labelling basics you need to know so that your food packaging complies with the Australian food labelling requirements. The course is split into the different sections of the legislation so that you can look at what you need to know at the time and then go back to refresh each time you are creating new labels. It is in bite-sized pieces for you so that you can work out the labelling at your own pace.
The modules include:
- What needs a label? – this describes the different types of sales such as retail, catering or wholesale and the labelling requirements for each of these.
- Identification of the food and you – including Best Before date or Use By date requirements
- Nutrition information – with the Nutrition Information Panel for Australia
- Net content – what units do you use and where do you place the net content information
- Country of origin – showing the 3-part label format and exemptions for using this format.
- Ingredient labelling – showing how to label for your ingredient list
- Warning and advisory statements – including PEAL (or plain English allergen labelling) and how to label for allergens both in the ingredient list and the necessary summary statement required by PEAL
- Percentage labelling – explaining what is required for labelling characterising ingredients or components of the food
